Graduated with honors from Smith; fired from Urban Outfitters on day two for not being good enough at folding sweaters and looking hip.

After I sent her back an email that said, basically, “you’re awesome, can I blog this?” she replied with this: “go for it—i will print them all out and mail them to my parents in a big envelope that says, SEE!? IT’S NOT JUST ME.”

To that end, I’d like to add: I did not share the Bath & Body Works non-hire information with my parents.

Or … um … that I was fired from my second “real” job as a receptionist for Fortress Investments after less than five weeks of abject misery.

Ah, NSFPUs (Not Safe For Parental Units) … the sooner your learn this distinction, the better.  It’s compulsory for peace of mind in your early twenties.

Or maybe always?

Julia: “It’s totally cool and normal for adults to lie to their parents because otherwise their parents might not give them as much money.”
